Rolls-Royce Camrgue is a rare model even for us Wakui Museum that sells the most classic R-R and Bentley cars in Japan.
Debuted in 1975 March, The top of the range personal car, named after South France resort, Camargue had a modern-looking body and a gorgeous interior based on Corniche structure. The V8 OHV 6.75 litre engine, 3 speed GM automatic transmission, hydropneumatic suspension, brake system and all that specifications are common with Corniche or Silver Shadow, the biggest feature of the car is Italian carrozzeria Pninfarina body and upholstery design. Strikingly beautiful proportion and edgy styling are revaluated recently.
Body panels provided in Turin, Italy were sent to England and fitted by Mulliner Park Ward along with the upholstery work. Because Camargue was even upper positioned over Corniche, it was meticulously cared to finish.
When the first car was introduced in Japan, the price tag was 45,000,000 Yen. It was the most pricy car for a series production model. The price is going up again recently on the classic car market.
This 1978 car is a relatively early model. The color scheme in and out is vivid and the rare alloy wheels add a character of this car. The driving feel is refreshingly sporty.
